Tuesday morning
I remember stormy weather
The way the sky looks when it's cold
And you were with me
Content with walking
So unaware of the world

Walking on air

Michal, daughter of Saul, despised good King David in her heart when she saw him dancing in an undignified manner on the streets of Israel, praising God. Her cynical remarks to David brought about a curse on her and hers, and henceforth, Michal, daughter of Saul, went without child until the day of her death.

But behind this story, there is another. To David, Michal used to be the love of his life, and the same went for her. However, their early romance was wrought with hardships, and it culminated in Saul marrying her off to another man with every intent of spiting David, without regard to her feelings. As the years progressed, Michal was subject to a host of other grievances committed to her family and her: she watched as her brother Jonathan died and her older brother was murdered in cold blood. She was powerless to stop her father from dying and could only depart from royalty in disgrace when David ascended the throne of Israel. To add fuel to the fire, David forced her hand in marriage, justifying his occupation of the throne (even though he had been chosen by God), and Michal returned to the palace to a husband with no love for her, and to find the place by his side shared by 6 other women. Afterall, many things can happen in the span of 12 years.

Who can blame Micah then, for the bitterness that she felt in her heart.

Sometimes we feel wronged and cry out against the things that have been done to us. But more often than not, we channel our negative emotions in the wrong way and end up harming ourselves and the people we love. Another alternative that we often practice is to keep everything inside, letting it fester within and not making an effort to change.

But change is an inevitable part of life that we have to initiate by ourselves sometimes, without waiting for the seasons to work their magic on our lives. For by then, the pretty porcelain faces of women would be marked with wrinkles and worry lines, and the vigor and strength of the men would have been sapped away, and replaced with the markings of weariness and age.

Few people can make us feel good about ourselves. One of those few people is ourselves. But when we are weak, and down, the strength of those close to us is always comforting and sought after. The smile absent from our faces shines strongly in our hearts when we know that they care.

It's amazing how much better people we can be with just a little change.

tell me that you're sorry; didn't think i'd turn around

The rain is falling on my windowpane;
But we are hiding in a safe place.
Still calls for more of your smiles though.
If but only for a month:
You'll make it through xoxo
