Tuesday morning
I remember stormy weather
The way the sky looks when it's cold
And you were with me
Content with walking
So unaware of the world

Walking on air

Deep down, we are all just human beings who have basic human needs and wants. We are different in so many ways, but yet are unexplainably similar, and inextricably linked to one another whether we like it or not. Weaving in and out of our different phases of life, with our own ambitions and goals in sight but so far ahead of us, it's not common for us to lose focus and who can blame us for being bewildered in a world where we can feel comfortable doing one thing but yearn to do something else.

Sometimes, we just need someone else to shoulder our burden and we would gladly do the same for the people that we cherish. It's imperative that we do so - or we would be living in a world that revolves solely around ourselves, a world so limited by the person called 'me' that we forget that our lives are affected by others, and others are affected by our lives.

It strikes me that we keep repeating the same questions over and over again but never consider other vantages and viewpoints; only to have someone else enlighten us to the other aspects of the matters that trouble our hearts and realize that hey, you're not the only one feeling this way. Hey, maybe it'd do you good to consider how she feels. Hey, please try to understand where he's coming from.

Everyday we face our own dilemmas and tackle our own problems - be it at home or in school. Depending on what we're faced with, we're often torn between one thing or another, not knowing which one to choose. No matter how strong we seem on the outside we're never really that sure of ourselves, and to have to meet the expectations of so many different groups of people and to try not to disappoint and to project a certain self-image and to maintain and keep up those things that threaten to crumble at any given time is not an easy task. Some shoulder more responsibility than others, and keep things to themselves in order to remain self-sufficient. But who wouldnt like a helping hand to be readily available in all times of need, or at least someone to gently say, 'I'm with you all the way.'

We're never sure what we really want, and hence we're definitely not sure what the people around us want. How strange it can be that we might think we know all about a person, only to find out something totally unexpected and perhaps, undesired? People can be smiling one moment and turn frosty the next, and leave you staring blankly into space while you try to figure it out just what exactly it was that you did wrong. We're erratic that way, and hence we're human that way.

To take solace in little comforts - another one of our little abilities that actually mean so much more. It comes down to a question of personal choice and expectations, whether we can let the little things in life make us happy. To always have an attitude of thanksgiving; not taking every little thing for granted: I'd like to be someone like that.

Perhaps sometimes all we want is for the people who matter most to us to feel the same way. And they do, they really do. We hope. But you can never tell, because you can never ask. And so we're set adrift in a sea of raging questions, torrential rain pouring down upon us - but at the same time able to look up at the sky and wait patiently for the sunrise to come.

Everyone has their own fears and their own dreams.

Everyone wastes a chance or two.

Everyone searches for the missing link between the two halves of their hearts.

If only for a day, the world could consist of only two;

Or maybe three.
