Tuesday morning
I remember stormy weather
The way the sky looks when it's cold
And you were with me
Content with walking
So unaware of the world

Walking on air
nigel.

The Girl Who Split Into 2

With lips of red, full lush and pristine,
Eyes that sparkled; glowed bright with a gleam.
Silky hair cascading - rent hearts asunder
Gentle voice surrounded our lives with wonder

To know her was to want to be with her - whether friends or more;
A casual chat enough to send warmth to one's core.
Long nights and long words - they took up our time
Tearing oneself from that presence was a crime.

We'd laugh and we'd frown and we'd kid and we'd smile
Time flies during fun and hours felt like a while
A joke and a note, a message to emote
That girl left the words all stuck in your throat

A november's evening - the quake struck from nowhere
A Richter reading of 9 - chaos was rife; and so was fear
The cracks in the ground mirrored the cracks in what's precious;
To hope that nothing would change - simply preposterous.

With a rapid, rushing flow, and without discretion
All those people arrived, in such quick succession
In a blur - they penetrated the circle
and spirited her away - leaving you to crumble

T'was all it took to tear something apart,
What can be more complicated than matters of the heart?
What was once shared was simply too beautiful
You were giving your all but she never felt the pull
At times there is care and concern and some laughter
But to turn back time's more effort than you can muster
Everything looks the same - but you know that's not true
Other than what you feel
For the girl who split into two.
