So i've not been updating constantly, many apologies 'cos sometimes when I do the good ol' internet just screws up and I type a long post, click 'publish' and the next page is 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage', I hit back only to find all the words gone. Posted at: 11:11 AM Okay obviously the biggest event that just happened is Christmas, haha. Christmas, a time where the Christians remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Why do you think there're so many christian-related things featured in Christmas, like angels, stars, and the like. Not uncommon to see setups of the manger in Bethlehem that Christ was born into as well. Different people spend their Christmases differently I guess. Singapore may be really Westernized but I don't think alot of people do all the Christmasy stuff like sing carols, drink eggnog, curl up in front of a warm fireplace, etcetc. Nor do we have large turkeys at a Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas - an excuse to eat a lot of food. Seriously, every Christmas my mom buys at least one large honey-baked ham and sparkling grape juice and stuff whether we have a Christmas meal or not, just to eat them for fun. Decided that I had to go out on Christmas if not it would be very loseristic indeed. So called up a bunch of 4A guys to go watch I am Legend which opened on Christmas day. Must say that the show was rather good, understandably you need someone with good acting chops to be the only character in the show (well nearly the whole show) and still manage to pull it off, and Will Smith does a good job. Though the ending was really a letdown but no spoilers here so go watch the movie for yourself. Some men we're supposed to be, hui kept looking down at the uber-freaky part and I was going 'Plzzz......' Before that we went to screw around at a lan shop and then nicky came with ali and yelin. Very shrewdly, he had invited them the day before to watch the show and did not think to inform anyone. So we didnt buy tickets for them and the show was sold out. Poor yelin and ali had to make other plans on the spot. Luckily for me, we all had dinner together after the show if not I'd have to be bored again, and on Christmas that kinda sucks. Too bad hui had to go home for a Christmas dinner (although by the time he reached home his relatives were ready to leave, nice) Orchard Road was off limits to cars as usual, for some pointless models that weren't really nice and actually rather tacky, but everyone was having a great time strolling along the road and taking photos so I guess whatever works. As Taka was super crowded everywhere, we bought food then scouted around for a 'corner to sit down' as nicky aptly put it. And there's how my exciting Christmas went, shall not elaborate more due to harold's words of wisdom: a blog post like a diary entry is very boring, none of the 'i woke up and brushed my teeth and ate lunch and went swimming and played dota' crap please. Very true. Hm I think just about everyone's done Christmas shopping, I pathetically haven't done any 'cos I can't be bothered and don't really need anything right now. Ah the commercialization of Christmas eh. Hm an interesting point to note, guys don't make christmas cards for each other. Never received a christmas card my whole life up till this year (okay unless you count the cutout Christmas tree that liang gave all those who went to ken's barbecue last year but that was some mass produced thing so not counted). It's either card giving is too gay, we can't be bothered, or a combination of both which is most likely the scenario. But it is nice to have a stash of Christmas cards that your friends send with notes and stuff to keep so you can take a look at them years later. That's why us guys are losing out and need to start being less heartless since 'all guys are heartless' according to mel. Anyway I really need to get my body clock tuned back this week (or try, i hope) to prepare for school reopening. Staying up till 3-4 am everyday and waking up earliest like 11 isn't good at all, and most of the time I'm staying up doing pointless things when everyone else has had a fruitful day of productive work or studying. And I'm running out of nocturnal owls to have a chat with since I stay up later than most people. Oh well luckily at least shun stays awake till about 2 and there's always nicky if he's at home and not out cycling along the highway or picking up trannies. School reopening - that's an interesting thought. First things first will of course be orientation, not really optimistic, hope my og will be fun and responsive and at least go for outings (unlike MR12 which hasn't had a single one 'GUYS WANT TO GO FOR OUTING BEFORE ONITE? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'), if not then I guess screw it all. Oh well, dry run was pretty much screwed up for me for reasons unknown (okay actually they're known but afterall I am a mysterious piece of shit and am so not going to list them here) but somehow both dry run periods were excellent hanging out times with chinks, probably the only bright point I can think of other than my MRT pal yihui. After orientation, J2 life will kinda officially start though I bet i'll still be in the holiday mood. Maybe the reality of A levels and shit and NS looming will hit me pretty soon. Ah whatever mugging is fun anyway when done in company, yihui's blasphemy of mugging alone = 100% productivity isn't good at all. There'll still be all the nice events like talentime and next year's version of take5 and chi new year and everything so it'll not be as crappy as it sounds. Bah everyone's life isn't good enough that's just the reality of it all I guess. Everyone has their own gripes and stuff and its inevitable - with all the new classes (can't really call them new can I, they're a year old already) your close friends are now shared with even more people who they click with as well and extra effort must be put in to maintain them. Everyone feels the same way and everyone doesn't like certain things but you can't avoid them. At least we get home rooms next year which should hopefully contribute to class bondings since it's something 'common' and there's more interaction time. Oh heck who am I kidding I don't even voluntarily stick with the class. Should probably try to do that more I guess. And to quote weiwen, 'during prom let's sit as 4A and heck our classes. not to say that my current class isn't good which it is, but 4A is still the best' actually for people like zhi ivan jacky, weiwen junyang yelin and stuff, they all have 4a people in their classes so it's kind of not really a big diff. But it will be nice to have the whole 4a gathered together during prom. And see everyone wearing nice suits and acting cool. Speaking of which there's yet another gathering at nicky's house tomorrow, hurrah hurrah. And everyone's going late 'cos of the stipulated 'after 5 pm plz' rule, and our own stuff. Oh well before I leave, everyone go and listen to faber drive thanks. After mel sent me tonguetied I went to get many of their other songs (and hence registering for the Changkat through-train programme to Changi Prison) and they're all suitably emo with suitably nice lyrics, so yay. Alright screwoff. |
