Tuesday morning
I remember stormy weather
The way the sky looks when it's cold
And you were with me
Content with walking
So unaware of the world

Walking on air

Fairytale. A term used to describe a story set in mystical, ethereal surrondings, with wondrous beings and monstrous manifestations alike. Their beauty is that they often encompass an underlying lesson within them, or in other instances they just describe how courage, trust, happiness, and more often than not, love, can surpass all limits and break all boundaries.

Everyone wishes that some aspect of their life could be better in some way. We're all different in our walks of life, and to some, other people's way of living could be a fairytale unto itself. A child in Africa living in hunger and need would see a Singaporean child living in the lap of luxury as a fairytale. We all look up to the next possible attainable level of happiness. But we're never satisfied, and even those who have not a need in the world are faced with problems and wants that sometimes are not merely material in nature.

To be a knight in shining armour, questing for lord and land, eventually finding one's true love. To be a princess faced with the restraints of royalty or to be trapped in a tower, pining for the sweet release of freedom and eventually finding it in the arms of aforementioned knight. To be a poor pauper, chancing upon a wondrous object and igniting a series of events both prosperous and perilous in nature, finally going against all odds and finding wealth and happiness for family and self. The painting of such scenarios in a thousand different ways surround us and leave us breathless, wishing that we could experience even one of them.

It is not surprising then, that we draw parallels between fantastic stories such as these and our own lives. And it is not coincidence that storytellers use human emotions and feelings and experiences and exaggerate and lengthen them to fuel the basis of their own creations.

Perhaps it is not that impossible then, for her to give off a glow as bright as that just for me.
