today as I was munching on a pack of superreallytasty TAOKAENOI japanese seaweed, I was reminded how like maybe a month ago I was thinking about the pervasiveness of Japanese culture into Singaporean society.Posted at: 6:24 AM I mean seriously, nearly everywhere you turn there's evidence of how the Japanese have affected our lives, and they would totally be different without them. Well not considering the fact that the Japanese once occupied our country during WWII and their soldiers bayoneted our babies, but looking at our country now, it's fantastic to see how much Japanese things you can see everywhere! Take for example gaming. It's pretty much a fact to say that everyone alive nowadays has played a Japanese-made game before. From the earliest games like sonic, pacman, bla bla bla to nowadays we have what, pokemon, zelda, they were all on platforms made by Nintendo. A Jap company. On the trains everyday you see people with PSPs and Nintendo DS'es. All Jap companies. All Jap games. no need to talk about cars, we have what, honda, mitsubishi, toyota (is this jap? i dunno). hyundai's korean so screw that. and these 3 car companies produce the bulk of the cars that you see on singaporean streets. what about FOOD? man how to list? takopachi, yakitori, teppanyaki, japanese mayonnaise, teriyaki sauce, udon, japanese ramen, miso soup, green tea, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. interesting... the above list of jap foods that i came up with are all foods that i really really like to eat! okay i might be different from others but seriously i have never met someone who doesn't like takopachi. and if you don't know what those are. they're those flour balls with meat fillings inside. you know. octopus balls are the common word for them. =/ okay fashion, i'm not exactly a fashion guru and the only japanese fashion that's striking is the kimono, but there are alot of girls who take after the way the japanese girls dress way over there in Tokyo, like all the wild hairstyles (commonly seen in Japanese anime), and the styles of dressing. It's hard to describe; you guys should know what I mean. AND YES ANIME. SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE ANIME. even those who dont watch anime but read the manga are also guilty of Japanese culture affecting them. the storylines are great, the visuals impressive, i mean look at from very long ago stuff like rurounikenshin(samuraiX) one piece, FMA, bleach, naruto, (the mainstream animes) and all the others. I have spent at least 100 hours of my life watching bleach and naruto alone. And i'm not guilty about it. They were time well spent. =D SO YES. SEE HOW JAPAN AFFECTS US? JAPAN! JAPAN OWNS TOTALLY. OH AND WHO CAN FORGET MISS UNIVERSE 2007 AND MISS UNIVERSE 2006 RUNNERUP, RIYO MORI AND KURARA CHIBANA. <3<3<3 THEY TOTALLY OWNED THE WHITE CHICKS! woo. took some time out of mugging econs to make this observation. =) THERE, YOU'RE ENLIGHTENED. HAPPY MUGGING HAHAH |
